We are looking for a proactive, self-starter to be responsible for assisting our trade qualified technicians in the maintenance, service, repair and assembly of conveyor components and systems. This is an excellent chance to career advance yourself with an opportunity to undertake our Traineeship Belt Splicing Program. You can receive a Nationally recognised qualification securing yourself a fully company funded Certificate III in Polymer Processing and receive a permanent full-time position with a global mining organisation
This opportunity is open to those who are just starting out in their career or those who are looking to take the next step and Level-UP and earn themselves a Trade Certificate
Day-to-day responsibilities
Under supervision of our qualified trades and as a crucial member of our Mt Isa core crew you'll be responsible for:
* Assisting with mapping and marking out splices
* Assisting on shutdowns with planned belt changes
* Assisting with Belt Splicing and Installations of conveyor belts - fabric, ply, solid woven, or steel – cord. As well as removal and replacement
* Equipment and Shutdown preparation
* Ensure good housekeeping practices on site and in the workshop
* Participate in and sign off on JSA's; safety observations or toolbox discussions
Roster & Conditions:
* 5/2 roster, Monday - Friday
* Permanent Full time, 38 hours per week minimum
* Consistent overtime opportunities
* 1 RDO a month

What do we need from you?
* Must have a strong safety focus
* Hold a current drivers licence
* Previous experience in a Trade Assistant position ideally in a related industry sector, i.e. manufacturing or mining;
* Possess good mechanical aptitude, as well as sound communication and numerical skills
* Ability to work on-call and overtime.
* Prepared to undergo a full Preemployment Medical as well as National Police Check.
* Ideally hold any of the following: Forklift ticket, Working at Heights, Doggers, Basic Riggers, confined space
