Are you looking for a Consultant opportunity in the Gold Coast, with teaching and research responsibilities, and a team that is truly dynamic in its leadership and clinical approach?
They are currently seeking a Consultant in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry to join the team.
You will provide both inpatient and community-based services and have extensive teaching and research responsibilities.
Responsibilities
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following key attributes. Within the context of the responsibilities described above, the ideal applicant will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
* Demonstrated ability to make comprehensive psychiatric assessments and provide treatment for patients with serious mental illness and mental health problems.
* Ability to provide medical leadership in a multidisciplinary team.
* Demonstrated knowledge and skills in teaching, evaluation, and research.
* Knowledge of, or the ability to acquire knowledge of, the National and State Mental Health policies and skills to assist in the clinical administration of services, including determining needs and implementing policies.
* Excellent clinical variety.
This is a 700-bed teaching hospital located in a metropolitan, coastal location of Queensland serving a population of 500,000 people.
The Mental Health Service includes inpatient, outpatient, and community teams. There are 124 inpatient beds in total: a 44-bed psychiatric unit with an ICU sub-unit, a 10-bed acute young adult unit, an 8-bed child and youth unit, a 16-bed aged care unit, and a 59-bed extended care, rehabilitation, and psycho-geriatric unit.
Services include adult and child consultation/liaison services, an emergency psychiatric service, two adult and two child and adolescent community clinics, and a mobile intensive therapy team.
This mental health service is very supportive of the training requirements of overseas-trained doctors.

Registration as a medical practitioner and specialist psychiatrist (FRANZCP) with the Medical Board of Australia is required.
