The Mental Health Tribunal (Tribunal) is an independent statutory body funded and supported by the Department.
The Tribunal is an essential safeguard under the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act **** to protect the rights and dignity of people with mental illness.
The primary function of the Tribunal is to determine whether the criteria for compulsory mental health treatment as set out in the Act apply to a person.
About the role
Reporting to the Senior Registrar, the Deputy Registrar is responsible for the effective listing and coordination of Mental Health Tribunal hearings, Tribunal member support, the management of associated documentation including the statutory register of the tribunal, and some case management under supervision of the Registrar.
The position requires a highly motivated individual who is committed to the highest level of client service, is able to set priorities and work under pressure.

How you'll make a difference
As a member of the Registry team, manage Registry functions to ensure all hearings are organised and managed in a timely and efficient manner, including coordination of teleconference and video conference hearings and related equipment management.
Ensure that all listings and coordination practices comply with the applicable legislation, policies and procedures.
Assist the registrar with case management of allocated cases.
Achieve service delivery goals and objectives and client expectations through: making recommendations on enhancements to operating policies, practices and systems; liaising and consulting with senior management and staff of the registry to assist in the development of solutions to problems; record and manage matters requiring hearing, determinations and orders of the Tribunal in accordance with legislative requirements and internal procedures; undertake client support services to ensure the effective running of the Tribunal.
This includes management of phone calls and provision of a "front of office" service.
Assist in the development, evaluation and implementation of strategies, policies and procedures.
Liaise and maintain constructive relationships with Tribunal members, Mental Health Service staff and stakeholders.
Undertake administrative tasks from time to time to assist with the achievement of team goals.
