What the role is
Our Gold Coast branch is seeking a highly skilled technician eager to advance their career or seek a new challenge, to join the Gold Coast Laboratory Management team. The role will vary depending on experience and competencies. Internal & external training and coaching will be provided. This is a hands-on role involving performing tests, supervising staff, with a strong focus on efficiency and quality.
You will be responsible for:
* Performing laboratory tests in accordance with standards
* Training and supervising technicians
* Checking and testing the accuracy of equipment and commissioning new equipment
* Regular inspection and calibration of test equipment
* Checking and approving test reports
* Programming testing in consultation with the Laboratory Manager
* Ensuring safety procedures are followed
* Maintaining laboratory efficiency
* Managing the laboratory in the absence of the Laboratory Manager
About you
We seek a team player with effective communication skills, initiative, flexibility, and enthusiasm. The ideal candidate will have:
* Experience in soil, aggregate, rock, grout, and concrete testing per Australian and Main Roads standards
* Experience in Level 1 & 2 Earthworks testing and inspections (AS3798)
* Supervisory and training capabilities
* Competence in lab result analysis and reporting
* Ability to explain testing procedures and results confidently
* Calibration and inventory management skills
* Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques, Diploma, or Degree
* Nuclear Radiation Gauge Licence and WHS White Card
* Australian Driver’s licence
* Previous NATA signatory experience (highly advantageous)
* Nuclear gauge licence (desirable)
