About the role
The Mechanical Designer will provide drafting and engineering services for the design and manufacturing of components used in the overhaul process and new capital equipment design, and capturing of any modifications made to equipment.
The Mechanical Designer's key Responsibilities include
Ensuring work is conducted in compliance with the HBT Safety and Health Management Plan and the Quality Management System
Reporting any hazards or incidents and near misses involving yourself or others.
Adhering to policies, procedures and processes for design, drafting and engineering
Inspecting and measuring machinery and components
Producing technical drafts and designs to assist in streamlining the fabrication process and enhance quality outcomes
Seeking opportunities to produce designs that lead to labour efficiencies during the overhaul and improved performance of components
Liaising with Clients to clarify and verify specific requirements
Liaising with workshop staff, key suppliers and sub-contractors in regard to design
Understanding of requirements around manufacturing process
Assisting with developing drafts of new ideas and products
Liaising with project coordinators / managers and customers to seek understanding of drafting, design requirements
Assisting with strategic engineering improvements to new and existing equipment
Updating of Drawing Register and engineering task schedule
About you: Qualifications
Degree / Tertiary qualification in a Mechanical Engineering discipline is highly regarded
Previous Knowledge & Experience
A strong focus on safety.
Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of industrial hydraulic systems.
Effective communication skills and ability to work in with other disciplines.
Demonstrated ability to successfully work autonomously to achieve business objectives.
A positive attitude with a can-do mantra.
Strong analytical skills to make informed decisions / recommendations.
Strong technical drafting and writing skills.
