We are looking for an experienced Production Lead to join our in-house Production team - Bastion MAKE.

Role Overview
You’ll lead the evolution of Make’s in-house Production service, managing a national team of Makers across TV, content, social, animation, CGI, digital, and AI-driven projects. Strong industry connections, leadership skills, and expertise in existing and emerging production technologies like AR and VR are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Execution
* Help shape the Make production offer, integrating broadcast, content, and innovative workflows.
* Lead end-to-end production across broadcast, content, and social projects.
* Drive efficiency and automation with AI, CGI, Unreal Engine, virtual production, and emerging tech.
* Oversee post-production, including editing, animation, VFX, color grading, and sound design.
* Ensure projects meet top creative and technical standards, delivered on time and budget.
* Collaborate with creative, strategy, and media teams to bring ideas to life.
* Serve as a subject matter expert in internal and external presentations and pre-production meetings.
* Lead and support a team of Makers through industry expertise, 1:1 meetings, and regular reviews.
Industry & Innovation
* Stay ahead of industry trends, particularly in AI-generated content, virtual production, AR, VR and automation.
* Identify and implement new production models, workflows, and partnerships to enhance speed and efficiency.
* Maintain expertise in CGI and generative AI’s role in content creation.
* Build and manage relationships with directors, crew, production houses, VFX artists, CGI specialists, and digital production vendors.
* Oversee freelance and in-house Make teams, ensuring seamless collaboration.
* Negotiate competitive rates for production and post-production services.
Digital & Cross-Platform Expertise
* Apply a digital-first mindset to all productions, integrating social, interactive, and immersive formats.
* Understand print and digital asset production, ensuring smooth cross-over when required.
* An understanding of creative/dynamic content optimisation is desirable.
* Work across multi-format outputs, from traditional TVC to programmatic, digital OOH, and interactive experiences.
* Develop accurate production budgets, schedules, and cost estimates.
* Manage the teams monthly forecasting.
* Ensure cost-effective production strategies that maintain creative integrity.
* Manage contracts, licensing, and talent usage rights efficiently.
What You Bring
* Extensive experience in production leadership with a strong background in broadcast and content with both agency and line production experience.
* Strong knowledge of post-production process, and experience in CGI, Unreal Engine is desirable, and AI-powered content creation.
* A robust black book of industry contacts (directors, editors, sound designers, VFX artists, production houses).
* Ability to future-proof production processes by embracing new technologies.
* Understanding of print and digital production workflows and where they interact with content.
* Excellent budget management and negotiation skills.
* A passion for innovation, problem-solving, and creative collaboration.
* A can-do attitude and a collaborative and inspiring nature to the team.
Technical/Software
* 8 + years’ experience in quoting/job management software, i.e. Workbook, Accountability or similar.
* 8+ years using MS365 – Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams.
* Experienced in using scheduling/resourcing tools such as Float, or similar such platforms as Trello, Monday.
* Google slides.
* A working understanding of the Adobe products for production and post-production.
* A working understanding of Da Vinci resolve and other VFX and post such as Flame.
* 8+ years and an in depth understanding of talent engagement, management, licensing, usage across Australia and the relevant laws and working with Talent Pay.
* 1-2 years working knowledge of Gen AI tools such as but not limited to Midjourney, Runway, Eleven Labs, or similar is desirable.
