Kimberley Mineral Sands Pty Ltd (KMS) is a 50/50 joint venture between Sheffield Resources Limited and YGH Australia Investment Pty Ltd (Yansteel). The Thunderbird Mineral Sands Project (Thunderbird) is located mid-way between Derby and Broome, in the Kimberley region of Western Australia.

Thunderbird is one of the largest and highest-grade zircon mineral sands deposits in the world and contains valuable heavy minerals including ilmenite, zircon, leucoxene, and rutile, which are extracted and exported via the Port of Broome.

About The Role

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Environmental Advisor to play a critical role in supporting and guiding our environmental performance across project operations. This position is responsible for ensuring full compliance with environmental approvals, licences, and regulatory requirements, while leading the implementation of monitoring programmes, data management, reporting, and field services.

Acting as a key liaison between site operations, contractors, the community team, and health and safety professionals, you will contribute to strategic planning and provide expert advice to ensure our environmental and cultural heritage obligations are met to the highest standard. This role offers the opportunity to influence environmental outcomes and drive continuous improvement across the business.

Location & Roster Options

We have a strong preference for the preferred candidate to reside in the West Kimberley region.

West Kimberley Resident Roster: 8 days on 6 days off (Bus in, Bus out from Broome)

Key Responsibilities

* Prepare environmental approval applications to ensure operational continuity of Thunderbird Operations, including amendments to Part V Prescribed Premise Licences and Works Approvals, Mining Proposals and Mine Closure Plans and Water Licences, as required
* Coordinate technical studies required to support environmental approval applications
* Oversee the collection of environmental monitoring data and collate, analyse and report on the data to maintain compliance as required for approvals, licences and permits in an accurate and timely manner
* Ensure site compliance with Thunderbird's environmental management system, procedures and processes along with legislation and regulations relating to environmental management
* Assist in planning and implementation of environmental monitoring programs on site
* Provide advice and support to site management on approved condition restrictions, environmental standards and obligations
* Conduct site environmental inspections and incident investigations, assist with planning and implementation of site audits
* Maintain databases for environmental parameters and prepare appropriate reports
* Ensure the effective use of risk management and incident reporting to identify and minimise environmental hazards
* Facilitate awareness of environmental compliance and obligations across the workforce

Cultural Heritage

* Assist with the coordination of Rangers to meet environment and cultural heritage compliance requirements
* Assist in planning and implementation of cultural heritage monitoring programs at site
* Guide Rangers in appropriate on‐site cultural heritage management and surveys

About You

* Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Management or related discipline
* Field experience in conducting environmental monitoring such as water, fauna and flora surveys, dust, radiation, noise and light
* Previous experience in preparation of environmental management reports
* Experience in incident investigation, auditing and reporting on environmental management
* Strong computer literacy – particularly with Microsoft Office suite, Teams and SharePoint
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Strong written and verbal communication skills with people across all levels of the organisation
* Excellent organisational skills
