YOUR NEW POSITION
We are seeking the services of an experienced Workshop Planner/Estimator to join our Gladstone Service team in Queensland. This role will be responsible for job planning, accurate estimating, costing and co-ordinating workshop workflows while supporting our internal/external sales team and workshop personnel.
In this role, you will be central to the efficient management of both workshop repairs and field service projects across the region. Our company’s projects consist of overhaul and return to service assets across the state’s industrial and municipal water and waste networks. You will be part of a team dedicated to providing a complete turn-key solution including removal, condition assessment, off-site overhaul, reinstallation and commissioning of assets.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Accurately estimate and cost workshop and site service projects
- Develop and maintain workshop schedules, ensuring resources are planned effectively
- Maintain accurate job tracking, reporting, and forecasting in JIM2 (ERP system)
· Prepare accurate estimates, cost breakdowns, and proposals
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and customers
- Procure required materials and sub-contractor services
· Manage jobs, quotes and purchase orders in JIM2 (operating software)
- Monitor job costs and identify variances against project estimations
- Issue precise job packs for cost-effective and safe execution of work
- Monitor job progress, identifying and mitigating risks or delays
· Adhere to companies ISO 9001 Quality and ISO 45001 OHS systems and procedures
- Ensure safe work practices and quality workmanship in accordance with Australian Standards
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Previous experience as a planner, estimator, scheduler, or similar role within engineering, heavy industry, or mining services
- Trade qualification (Mechanical, Electrical, or Automotive) is desirable but not essential
- Proficiency with ERP/job management systems (experience with JIM2 highly regarded)
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities
- Team-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving
- Commitment to quality, safety, and customer satisfaction
