Details: The Vehicle Safety and Standards (VSS) team is responsible for vehicle inspections and vehicle safety on road compliance held at the Hume Motor Vehicle Inspection Station (MVIS) which includes light vehicle, heavy vehicle, public vehicle, and modified vehicle inspections, and vehicle identity checks.
Eligibility/Other Requirements:
* Automotive Trades (Mechanic) Certificate 3 or equivalent is essential.
* Heavy Vehicle mechanical experience is desirable.
* This position requires the occupant(s) to be an Australian citizen or permanent resident of Australia under regulations set out in the (Road Transport (General)Act 1999 Sect 19.)
* A current C class driver licence or higher with no convictions for a disqualifying offence.
* Active participation in Access Canberra's Health Monitoring Scheme which follows the guidelines outlined in the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 and the Work Health and Safety Regulation 2011.
* The ability and willingness to work on weekends or outside normal business hours.
* The ability and willingness to work in field operations or interstate.
* This position requires a pre-employment medical.
Notes: A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.
