Counsellor - Family Violence
Leading, non‐profit employer providing community‐based healing services using a trauma‐informed approach to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families, children, young people, and adults.
Location: Atherton Tablelands, 90 minutes by road from Cairns.
Responsibilities
Provide therapeutic case management and counselling to children, young people, adults, families and/or carers in the areas of sexual assault, family violence, abuse, child sexual assault and inappropriate or harmful sexual behaviours. Deliver individual counselling and support as negotiated with service users, integrating therapeutic work, advocacy, psycho‐education, protective behaviours and safety planning.
Qualifications
* Relevant qualification in counselling, social work or mental health
* Stable employment history
* Valid WWCC
* Sensitivity to Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander culture and families
* Experience working with Indigenous families, women, children, youth, mums, and trauma
