Join to apply for the APS Level 6 Passport Program/Project Officer role at Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. The Passport Program/Project Officer, Passport Technology and Standards, will work as part of a small team dedicated to ensuring the Australian passport remains interoperable worldwide and features the latest technology. The team maintains awareness of forthcoming changes to international passport standards and works to implement innovative solutions that advance the Australian Passport Office (APO) in line with international progress. The team also maintains awareness and understanding of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing and digital travel credentials, and how they relate to passports and associated systems. The team is responsible for overseeing the development of Australia's next generation passport and provides advice on key technologies for the department including APO's facial recognition technology.
Responsibilities
* Develop and maintain expertise on APO's biometric technology, passport chip technology, passport security features, public key infrastructure and book technology.
* Engage with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders, domestically and internationally, and participate in domestic and international working groups related to passport technology.
* Work on key projects related to the current and future series of passports, and future travel technologies.
* Support and advise on technologies for the department, including facial recognition technology used by APO.
