Job Description

Team Manager, Bailiffs - Wellington

Te Haeata/The Opportunity

Are you ready to lead a dynamic, customer-focused team in a role that directly contributes to the integrity of the justice system?

As Team Manager, Bailiffs within the Ministry of Justice's National Service Delivery Group, you'll play a vital role in coaching and motivating a team responsible for the enforcement of court-ordered fines and reparations.

With a strong focus on people leadership and performance development, you'll ensure high-quality, consistent service delivery across multiple channels—face-to-face, phone, email, and online.

You'll play a key leadership role in driving operational excellence and high performance within the Ministry of Justice's Collections team. You'll lead by example motivating and developing staff to make sound decisions, deliver consistent, high-quality services, and uphold the values of fairness, accountability, and customer focus.

This role offers the opportunity to shape frontline service delivery through strategic planning, process improvement, quality assurance, and effective workforce management. You'll be instrumental in fostering a culture of continuous improvement and health and safety, while also building strong relationships with stakeholders and supporting your team's development through mentoring, feedback, and succession planning.

This is your opportunity to make a real impact by supporting justice, improving debt resolution, and upholding the credibility of fines as a legal sanction, all while developing your leadership career in a nationally coordinated environment.

This position is based in Wellington and oversees 7-9 staff across the Lower North Island; with a strong emphasis on building a strong and supportive team culture.
