About our client: Our client specialises in providing innovative fabricated solutions to a variety of heavy industries. Their equipment is designed to enhance efficiency and safety within their clients' operations, ensuring the smooth movement of both products and people.
We are working with them to find a talented Mechanical Designer with strong fabrication and layout design knowledge.
Role Overview:
As a Mechanical Designer, you will be primarily responsible for creating 2D layouts and detailed fabrication drawings using AutoCAD, with some projects requiring the use of Solidworks for 3D design. Your designs will cater to the specific requirements communicated by the client where possible, whilst ensuring the solution designed can be fabricated successfully. There will also occasionally need to perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to validate the integrity of your designs.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop detailed 2D AutoCAD drawings for equipment layout and fabrication.
* Utilize Solidworks for 3D modelling and design tasks as required.
* Create structural components tailored to site-specific needs.
* Produce accurate shop floor drawings for the fabrication team.
* Conduct FEA to ensure structural integrity and safety.
* Collaborate with key stakeholders to understand design requirements and constraints.
* Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards and regulations.
* Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
* Proficiency in 2D AutoCAD is essential with a working knowledge of Solidworks or Autodesk Inventor.
* Experience in creating fabrication and layout drawings.
* A basic understanding of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is a plus.
* Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
* Relevant qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or demonstrated experience in a related field.
