Workforce Planner / Recruiter – Mining & Shutdown Workforce

A well-established company supporting mining operations across the Bowen Basin is seeking a Workforce Planner / Recruiter to join our Mackay-based team.
This role sits at the centre of workforce coordination, supporting the recruitment, planning and mobilisation of skilled trades across Heavy Mobile Equipment (HME) and Heavy Fabrication (HF) workshops, field service operations and shutdown projects.
Working closely with operations and site teams, you will ensure personnel are recruited, compliant and mobilised efficiently to meet project timelines and client requirements.
The Role
This position combines recruitment, workforce planning and mobilisation coordination within a fast-paced operational environment supporting multiple mine sites across the Bowen Basin.
You will be responsible for managing the full workforce lifecycle — from recruitment through to mobilisation, scheduling and workforce allocation across active projects and shutdowns.
Key Responsibilities
• Recruit skilled trades including Diesel Fitters, Boilermakers, Auto Electricians, Mechanical Fitters and Trades Assistants
• Source, screen and engage candidates for site-based roles
• Conduct interviews and reference checks
• Build and maintain strong talent pools of trades personnel
• Coordinate onboarding and mobilisation including site access, travel, accommodation and compliance documentation
• Track workforce compliance including licences, inductions, medicals and training requirements
• Plan, schedule and allocate personnel across shutdowns, maintenance work and project requirements
• Manage workforce rosters and ensure all roles are filled in line with client and operational needs
• Take ownership of daily and forward workforce planning across multiple sites and projects
• Maintain accurate records including mobilisation status, compliance documentation and workforce registers
• Provide updates to management regarding workforce availability and recruitment activity
• Manage last-minute workforce changes including availability issues or project adjustments
Industry Exposure

• Heavy Mobile Equipment and Heavy Fabrication workshops
• Shutdown maintenance
• Field service operations
• Mining asset maintenance projects and labour contracts
Working Hours
Monday – Thursday: 7:30am – 4:30pm
Friday: 7:30am – 3:00pm
1 RDO per month
Limited flexibility with start or finish times may be considered for school drop-off or pick-up arrangements (not both), subject to operational requirements.
Salary
$80,000 – $100,000 per year depending on experience.

This position is not an entry-level recruitment role. Applicants must demonstrate experience recruiting or coordinating trades personnel within mining, labour hire, industrial or construction environments.
