About the role
This position plays a pivotal role in assisting the Senior Officer - Emergency Operations, in overseeing and supporting the delivery of emergency response and recovery activities in the Northern Territory (NT). This forward facing position focuses on providing essential operational, logistical, and coordination support to ensure compliance with contractual agreements, effective stakeholder engagement, and continuous improvement of emergency services. There is a strong focus on engagement, particularly with the First Nations community.
Day to day you will
Assist in coordinating and negotiating with stakeholders to ensure contractual requirements between Australian Red Cross and TFHC (Territory Families, Housing and Communities) are met during both emergency and non-emergency situations.
Support real-time monitoring and compliance with grant management requirements, including after-activation reporting, financial reporting, quarterly reporting, and annual grant reviews.
Assist in maintaining strong relationships with multiple stakeholders and functional groups within the emergency management sector in the NT.
Assist in ensuring that training, volunteer readiness, capacity building, and technical support activities align with contractual obligations and are continuously strengthened to secure ongoing funding.
Coordinate logistical aspects of training programs such as Psychological First Aid (PFA), Emergency Coordination Team (ECT), Evacuation Centre Management (ECM), and Australian Inter-service Incident Management System (AIIMS).
Provide logistical and operational support for the effective management of evacuation centres, including shelter-in-place, pop-up centres, welfare centres, and recovery centres.
What you will bring
Sound discipline knowledge gained through experience, training or education in administrative support, emergency management, or related fields.
Experience working collaboratively with local authorities, community organisations, and stakeholders to achieve common objectives for communities.
Flexibility to adapt to evolving local needs and challenges.
Knowledge of Indigenous culture and sensitivity to community needs in the Northern Territory context is advantageous.
Proven ability to manage time, set priorities, plan and organise their own work and that of other staff and/or volunteers when required
Sound analytical skills and demonstrated ability to assess, evaluate and solve problems generally found in policies and practices
