The Role
Reporting to the Director of Swimming, the Learn-to-Swim Coordinator is responsible for the smooth operation and administration of the College's Learn-to-Swim programs, including Vacation Swim and Junior School in-term swimming. This role involves scheduling classes, supervising instructors, managing assessments and certificates, and ensuring high standards of instruction and safety. You will also liaise with families, maintain accurate records, and contribute to program development. Occasional teaching and facility lock-up duties are part of this hands-on leadership role.
Key Responsibilities:
* Coordinate daily operations of Learn-to-Swim and Vacation Swim programs.
* Schedule classes and allocate staff in collaboration with the Head Swim Coach.
* Conduct assessments and manage student progression through swim levels.
* Prepare certificates and maintain accurate attendance and assessment records.
* Supervise and mentor Learn-to-Swim instructors, ensuring consistent standards.
* Monitor program performance and assist with budget and reporting requirements.
* Liaise with families and provide exceptional customer service.
* Teach swimming lessons when required.
* Oversee Junior School in-term swimming and assist with Aquatic Centre operations, including lock-up duties.
About You
You are an organised and proactive professional with a passion for swimming education and water safety. With strong communication and leadership skills, you thrive in a collaborative environment and are committed to delivering exceptional experiences for students and families.
Essential criteria include:
* Experience in coordinating swim programs or similar aquatic operations.
* Strong organisational and administrative skills, including database management.
* Ability to lead and mentor a team of instructors.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and a customer-focused approach.
* Current AUSTSWIM or equivalent qualification and CPR certification.
Desirable criteria include:
* Experience in school-based or community aquatic programs.
* Knowledge of child development and progression in swimming skills.
* Familiarity with aquatic centre operations and safety standards.
