About The Role
Reporting to the Group General Counsel & Company Secretary, the Legal Counsel (Governance & Compliance) plays a key role in supporting the integrity, transparency and regulatory compliance of the SunRice Group. The role provides practical, commercially focused legal advice across a diverse and dynamic, ASX‐listed organisation, with exposure to both domestic and international operations.
You'll be an important part of the SunRice Group legal team, and work closely with the Board, senior leaders and cross‐functional stakeholders, supporting Board and Committee processes, corporate governance, ASX compliance and continuous disclosure, while also supporting the Legal team with compliance and contributing to broader legal and strategic initiatives.
This is a hands‐on, high‐exposure role suited to a lawyer who enjoys working collaboratively with the business, balancing legal rigour with pragmatic, commercially sound solutions.
Key Responsibilities Will Include
* Supporting compliance with ASX Listing Rules, the Corporations Act and continuous disclosure obligations, including preparation and lodgement of ASX announcements, annual reports and other mandatory disclosures
* Supporting the Company Secretary with end‐to‐end Board and Committee processes, including agendas, papers, minutes, resolutions and action tracking
* Advising on corporate governance matters in line with ASX Corporate Governance Principles and Recommendations
* Maintaining and enhancing Group compliance frameworks, including policies, training materials and reporting registers
* Monitoring legislative and regulatory developments and advising on impacts to the Group, including across domestic and offshore operations
* Supporting Group‐wide compliance training and policy implementation initiatives
* Contributing to the continuous improvement of legal processes, templates and capability across the business
About You
You're a capable and confident in‐house or commercial/corporate lawyer with a strong interest in corporate governance and regulatory compliance, who enjoys being close to the business and making a meaningful impact. You bring sound legal judgement, strong communication skills and a practical, solutions‐focused approach.
You're comfortable working across a wide range of legal matters, can manage competing priorities and build trusted relationships with stakeholders at all levels. Most importantly, you enjoy being part of a purpose‐led organisation with strong regional and global connections.
You Will Bring
* A tertiary qualification in Law and current practising certificate in Australia
* Experience gained in an in‐house legal role and/or in private practice in an area such as corporate/commercial law or compliance
* Experience supporting governance or compliance obligations for ASX listed clients or inhouse for an ASX‐listed company
* A pragmatic, business‐partnering mindset with the ability to simplify complex legal issues
* High levels of integrity, attention to detail and sound judgement
* Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the confidence to influence outcomes
