About the opportunity
At Australia Post we continue to progress our understanding and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, culture, histories, knowledge and rights. Australia Post has a long-standing commitment to Indigenous employment and reconciliation and launched its first employment strategy in 1988 and extended its commitment to reconciliation with the launch of the first Reconciliation Action Plan in 2011.
The purpose of this role is to lead the governance and enterprise delivery of the Australia Post Group Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), driving measurable outcomes that progress RAP priorities and support the delivery of Post30. You'll partner with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and Traditional Owners through trusted, culturally safe engagement to inform decisions, strengthen relationships and deliver lasting outcomes, while lifting cultural capability, strengthening representation and leadership pathways, and expanding supplier diversity and social procurement through partnerships with Indigenous businesses.
What you'll deliver with us
Reporting to our Head of Diversity, Inclusion and Talent, you'll lead the governance and enterprise delivery of the Australia Post Group RAP and broader Indigenous inclusion portfolio. You'll work closely with senior leaders across the business and provide people leadership to an Indigenous Careers Partner to deliver priority initiatives and measurable outcomes.
You'll also:
* Lead end-to-end governance and enterprise delivery of the Australia Post Group RAP, ensuring clear accountability, disciplined delivery and measurable outcomes aligned to Post30 priorities.
* Establish and maintain fit‐for‐purpose, culturally safe RAP governance (including reporting cadence, risk and issue management, decision pathways and progress updates to senior leadership forums and, where required, the Board).
* Engage and influence internal and external stakeholders in RAP execution and reporting (including EGMs and senior leaders, Indigenous employee networks and working groups, Reconciliation Australia, government stakeholders and community partners).
* Provide strategic advice, tools and capability‐building that enable culturally safe engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and Traditional Owners, ensuring appropriate protocols are followed and community insights inform decisions.
* Lead the delivery of Indigenous initiatives and cultural events end‐to‐end, including stakeholder engagement, communications, evaluation and continuous improvement.
* Drive Indigenous recruitment, development, progression and retention initiatives (including leadership pathways such as the Indigenous Emerging Leaders Program), in partnership with People & Culture and business leaders.
* Partner with Procurement, Sustainability and Community teams to expand supplier diversity and social procurement across the supply chain.
* Bring thought leadership on Indigenous trends, emerging issues, policy and best practice to continuously strengthen our approach and outcomes.
About you
You're a strategic, values‐led leader who can translate ambition into disciplined delivery. You build trusted, culturally safe relationships and can influence senior stakeholders in complex environments. You bring strong governance, program delivery and reporting capability, and you're confident coaching others to lift cultural capability and deliver meaningful outcomes.
You'll also need
* Demonstrated strategic leadership and delivery experience, including designing and executing large‐scale initiatives that balance enterprise priorities with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community needs and aspirations.
* Strong knowledge and applied understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and societies, with the ability to lead culturally safe engagement and support others to follow appropriate protocols.
* Experience leading RAP (or similar) governance, monitoring and reporting across complex organisations, including senior leadership and (where relevant) Board‐facing updates.
* Proven stakeholder engagement skills building trusted partnerships across Indigenous communities, employee groups, business leaders and external bodies.
* People leadership experience, with a track record of coaching and developing team members to deliver outcomes.
