With over 93 services across Victoria (and growing), Y Kinders is the largest Early Years Management provider in the state. Our operations include kindergartens, early learning centres, and before- and after-school care.
Our dedicated Y Ballarat Youth Team is committed to supporting and empowering our young people in Ballarat and surrounding communities. As passionate youth workers, they believe in the power of inspired young people and understand the importance of providing fun, safe, accessible, and inclusive programs, spaces, and events.
We are seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join our Payroll Team in a fixed-term, permanent part-time role (30 hours per week) whilst a valuable member is on parental leave. An ideal opportunity for an experienced payroll professional to balance meaningful work with life outside of work.
What you'll do:
* Support the end-to-end processing of fortnightly payroll, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
* Manage payroll administration, including onboarding, leave management, salary packaging and superannuation
* Assist with the calculation of backpay and termination payments
* Interpret and apply multiple awards and enterprise agreements to ensure payroll accuracy and compliance
* Respond to staff payroll enquiries in a professional and timely manner
* Prepare regular and ad-hoc payroll reports to support managers
* Assist with maintaining payroll procedures, user guides and documentation
* Provide system support and assist with training in Kronos
* Work closely with the Payroll Coordinator, People & Culture and Finance teams
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of payroll systems and processes
What you'll bring:
* Demonstrated payroll experience within a medium to large organisation
* Sound understanding of awards and enterprise agreements
* Strong attention to detail with well-developed analytical and numeracy skills
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll systems (Kronos is highly regarded)
* Relevant qualification such as Certificate III in Payroll Administration
* Ability to work collaboratively, manage competing priorities and adapt to change
* Current Working with Children Check and National Police Check, or willingness to obtain
