About the role
We are seeking an Senior or Head Chef to lead our small team at the Western Gateway Motel in the beautiful town of Emerald, Queensland. As our Head Chef, you will be responsible for leading our kitchen operations and delivering an outstanding culinary experience for our guests. This is a full-time position based in our Emerald, Central Queensland 4720. Position is six nights per week, Sundays off. Averaging approx. 45 hours per week. NO spilts (on occasions, yes depending on functions) Emerald population approx. 15,000.
What you'll be doing
1. Hands on role cooking, creating and overseeing all aspects of the kitchen operation, including menu planning, food preparation, and stock management, functions and events
2. Ensuring the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and food safety are consistently maintained
3. Menu in place, easy to follow. "Stone Grill" dining on offer. Steaks on the hot rock.
4. Maintaining cost control and inventory management
What we're looking for
1. Experience as a Head Chef or Senior Chef in a similar hospitality environment, willing to take a Sous Chef ready to step up.
2. A strong understanding of food trends, preparation techniques, and presentation
3. Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a kitchen team
4. Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to work under pressure
5. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise with both kitchen and front-of-house staff
6. A relevant culinary qualification or certification
