Find purpose and impact
As our new Apprentice Heavy Vehicle Mechanic, you will make an impact by assisting in servicing and maintaining a variety of heavy vehicles and machinery while completing hands-on training and formal study toward a Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology. This role involves practical work, learning new skills, and supporting the fleet maintenance team across council locations.
You'll make an impact by:
* Performing maintenance and repair tasks on heavy vehicles and equipment under supervision.
* Assisting with workplace housekeeping and general workshop duties.
* Following Work Health and Safety procedures and use personal protective equipment correctly.
* Participating in on-the-job and classroom training to progress toward qualification.
* Working collaboratively with team members and communicate effectively with supervisors.
What you'll bring
To thrive in this role, you will need:
* Willingness to learn and commit to a structured apprenticeship.
* Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions.
* Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality.
* Good physical fitness.
* Basic computer skills.
We would also love you to have:
* Basic hand tool and mechanic tool knowledge.
* P1, P2 or C Class Drivers Licence.
