Santa Clara Unified School District serves over 15,000 TK-12 students, including preschool through adult education, across neighborhoods in Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, San Jose, and Cupertino within a 56-square-mile area.

Job Responsibilities
Identify, through assessment, children eligible for special education services.
Participate as a team member to determine the needs and goals of each child's individual education plan.
Supervise and engage students in classroom activities.
Develop programs to facilitate student success and serve as a liaison for mainstreaming students when appropriate.
Conduct informal evaluations and modify curricula accordingly.
Consult with staff and parents regarding student needs.
Utilize resources within and outside the district to support student development.
Provide parents with instructional strategies.
Maintain knowledge of current regulations and pursue professional growth.
Keep records, files, and reports per regulations.
Maintain confidentiality of information.
Communicate with physicians, private schools, and community organizations about services.
Ensure health and safety of children.
Assist parents in coordinating community services.
Requirements / Qualifications
A valid California Special Education (Moderate/Severe) Credential is required.
Additionally, applicants must have at least one of the following authorizations to teach English Learners: CTEL, CLAD, BCLAD, AB2913 training (formerly SB395 or SB1969), or SB2042 EL Authorization.
Candidates without a valid credential on the first day of the school year will not be considered.
Please note that 30-day Substitute Credentials are not valid for contracted positions in our district.
