Site Operations Supervisor
Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Site Operations Supervisor to join our team in Far North Queensland. As a Site Operations Supervisor, you will be responsible for leading daily site operations at the transfer station, ensuring the smooth running of the facility and providing day-to-day guidance and support to team members.
Key Responsibilities:
* Carry out and lead day-to-day transfer station operations, including waste handling, sorting, and machinery operation
* Ensure safe, efficient, and compliant site practices through hands-on leadership
* Coordinate daily tasks and work closely with team members to meet operational goals
* Operate site equipment and machinery as required (e.g., loaders, compactors, forklifts)
* Supervise all transfer station operations, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance
* Oversee WHS and environmental compliance including inspections, toolbox talks, reporting, and incident management
* Monitor and report on site performance, productivity, and environmental impact
* Liaise with drivers, mechanics, and subcontractors to ensure timely and safe service delivery
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Proven experience in waste, logistics, civil or heavy industry operations, ideally in a council transfer station or similar environment
* Practical experience operating heavy machinery — excavator ticket and MR licence highly regarded (we can get them the tickets)
* Solid understanding of WHS, environmental, and fatigue management requirements, with a commitment to safe work practices
* Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to guide and support co-workers on the job
* Confident working in a hands-on role where you lead by example and help keep the team on track
* Comfortable assisting with basic planning and on-the-ground decision-making
* Familiarity with basic computer tasks (e.g., completing reports or using email – Excel/Word/Outlook)
* Can-do attitude and motivation to take ownership of daily site operations
