Join the Board of Hobart Women’s Shelter as Treasurer
Volunteer Position
The Hobart Women’s Shelter (HWS) is a not-for-profit organisation that has been providing crisis and transitional accommodation to women and children experiencing homelessness and/or family violence for more than 50 years.
Our mission is to champion the safety, wellbeing and development of women, their families, and the wider community through the provision of emergency accommodation, housing, education, and advocacy.
Our vision is to create a safe and inclusive community free from homelessness, violence, inequality, and injustice. Our work is underpinned by the values of equality, safety, collaboration, integrity, innovation, and diversity.
We are seeking a Treasurer to join our volunteer Board, someone with experience in finance. The Treasurer plays a key role in overseeing the organisation’s financial health, ensuring compliance with governance requirements, and supporting the Board to make informed financial decisions. Working closely with the CEO and Finance Manager, the Treasurer provides strategic advice on budgeting, risk management, and long-term financial sustainability, and will also chair the Finance Subcommittee. This is a rewarding opportunity to contribute your financial expertise to a purpose driven organisation making a tangible impact in the lives of Tasmanian women and children.
HWS is working hard to ensure our Board reflects the diversity of the community we serve. We warmly encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and individuals from culturally diverse backgrounds.
