When Australians research, plan, or dream about caravanning, we aim to be their trusted mate on the journey.As we expand our video-first editorial offering in 2026, including caravan reviews, tow-vehicle testing, Tough Tested segments, and touring content, we’re looking for a journalist who wants to grow with us and help shape the next chapter of Australian touring media.
About the RoleWe’re looking for a Caravan & Touring Video Journalist, a strong storyteller who is confident on camera and excited by travel, vehicles, and real-world testing.This role is ideal for a video journalist, presenter, or digital content creator with a background in journalism, media, or publishing who wants to specialise in caravanning, touring, and outdoor adventure.You don’t need to be a lifelong caravan engineer, but you do need curiosity, credibility, and the ability to explain complex or technical information clearly and honestly for everyday Australians.You’ll present and produce reviews, guides, and touring stories across video, digital, and social platforms, working closely with our editorial, digital, and production teams. The role involves regular travel for shoots, reviews, industry events, and touring assignments.
What You’ll DoVideo & StorytellingPresent caravan, camper, and tow-vehicle reviews on camera (long-form, mid-form, and short-form)Write and develop review scripts, articles, and comparison guidesTurn technical specs and real-world testing into clear, practical, audience-first storiesParticipate in towing tests, walkarounds, setup demonstrations, and off-grid testingCapture short-form content when required (mobile shooting acceptable)Collaborate with production and digital teams to deliver multi-platform contentEditorial & PublishingSupport the publishing of reviews and guides on WhatsUpDownunder.com.auWork with the digital team to ensure accuracy, consistency, SEO best practice, and strong user experienceContribute ideas across Reviews, Guides & Advice, Travel Inspiration, and Tough Tested contentIndustry & CommunityAttend media days, launches, dealer events, and caravan showsBuild relationships with manufacturers, industry stakeholders, and audiencesRepresent What’s Up Downunder as a credible, trusted on-camera voice
What You’ll BringProven experience as a journalist, video journalist, presenter, or digital content creatorStrong on-camera presence and confidence presenting to audienceExcellent writing skills, clear, conversational, and trustworthyInterest in caravanning, camping, touring, vehicles, or outdoor adventureAbility to learn technical topics quickly and explain them simplyComfort working from scripts and in unscripted, real-world environmentsExperience publishing content via WordPress or similar CMS (or willingness to learn)Familiarity with basic SEO, digital publishing, or editorial workflowsValid driver’s licence and willingness to travel regularly for workNote: Deep technical caravanning or towing experience is a strong advantage, but not essential. We value strong journalism, storytelling ability, and on-camera credibility above all.
