ABOUT THE FRED HOLLOWS FOUNDATION
The Foundation is an international development organisation working to prevent blindness and restore sight. We continue to carry on the legacy of Professor Fred Hollows, who believed every person had the right to quality eye care, no matter where they live. The Foundation has grown to work in more than 25 countries throughout Africa, South Asia, Southeast Asia, the Middle East and the Pacific, as well as Australia. The Foundation has restored sight to more than 3 million people worldwide. We have an ambitious five-year strategic plan that aims to take us even closer to realising our vision of a world in which no person is needlessly blind or vision impaired and Indigenous Australians exercise their right to sight and good health.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The Communications and Brand Advisor is accountable for working across teams and divisions at The Foundation to deliver communications and PR strategies in the core Australian market and support global communications and media through influencing and coordination. The Communications and Brand Advisor will deliver internal and external communications that are aligned to The Foundation's strategy.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Work across teams and divisions at The Foundation to coordinate communications/media needs, influence and share knowledge that will help the Public Affairs team deliver on communications and brand goals.
* Deliver on communications strategies to build media awareness and brand recognition and raise awareness of The Foundation's work.
* Ensure media stories are generated and receive coverage in Australian media outlets.
* Project manage the delivery of reactive and proactive messaging for The Foundation, as well as key publications.
* Manage community engagement activities and events along with other team members.
* Develop strong relationships across The Foundation to better promote the whole suite of The Foundation's work including research and advocacy.
* Support the Brand Strategy of The Foundation including brand transformation efforts
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED
* Experience working in the media or in a front-line media/communications role.
* Demonstrated understanding of what the media wants and how the media works, including how to pitch stories.
* Demonstrated experience influencing and coordinating across multiple stakeholders with competing priorities, such as programmatic and technical experts.
* Experience creating content for a range of audiences.
