Our client is seeking for an **EL1 Assistant Director, Pricing Policy** to join the Economic & Pricing Branch.

**About the Role**:
The Economic & Pricing branch is responsible for the agency's market stewardship to create an efficient and sustainable consumer driven marketplace for disability supports. It regulates the commercial relationships between providers and participants, including through price regulation. The pricing arrangements aim for balance between participants receiving value for money quality care while improving market supply of providers as well as recognising the need for financial sustainability.

The Pricing Policy unit leads the Annual Pricing Review undertaken annually to assess whether the price control framework and other market settings are still appropriate. This is a major agency's publication endorsed by the Board. The review involves extensive engagement with participants, providers, community and government stakeholders. Feedback is gathered through consultation paper, working groups and targeted research. Data is analysed including monitoring of trends, cost data and market analysis. Based on the qualitative and quantitative input, pricing policy is developed to inform the sector regarding changes and recommendations.

Other key priorities for the unit include the Pricing Strategy development which is the long-term direction agency's plans to take in terms of market intervention and pricing framework.

**Responsibilities**:

- Sound decision making taking into account the data, public submissions, working group consultations and the broader market impacts to inform policy development
- Ability to adapt quickly to a changing environment where decisions may be based on limited data, and to navigate through ambiguity with strong analysis and problem solving skills
- Project management oversight for the development of key projects with internal and external stakeholders to ensure delivery on time to the expected quality
- Ability to liaise effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, to achieve desired outcomes and to maintain strong, productive working relationships
- Ability to communicate complex, technical and sensitive issues verbally and in writing to a range of audience.

**Essential Criteria**
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to synthesise and coordinate complex information to form decisions that are evidence based and withstand the scrutiny of a range of different stakeholders.
- Ability to adapt quickly to a changing environment where decisions may be based on limited data, and to navigate through ambiguity with strong analysis and problem solving skills.
- Ability to communicate complex, technical and sensitive issues verbally and in writing to a range of audience.
- Project management oversight for the development of key projects to ensure delivery on time to the expected quality.
- Ability to liaise effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, to achieve desired outcomes and to maintain strong, productive working relationships.
- Leading and managing the team to ensure delivery of work priorities, building team capability and positive work culture.

**Desirable criteria**
- Previous writing experience in Government Agencies.
- Understanding of basic economics and the impact of pricing in terms of economic impact.
- Knowledge or experience of using quantitative and qualitative data to inform policy.
