About the Role
The Release Train Engineer provides leadership, guidance, and coordination in the successful delivery of multiple agile IT initiatives, at times with a combined budget of several million dollars per annum. They coordinate and facilitate the release management process through planning, organising, and prioritising the release schedule, managing dependencies and risks, facilitating communication and collaboration among teams, tracking progress, and resolving any issues that may arise during the release cycle. Working closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders they ensure effective collaboration, adherence to methodologies, and timely delivery of high-quality IT solutions that align with the university's strategic objectives.
About You
Relevant tertiary qualification and relevant experience; or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through any other combination of education, training, and/or experience.
Strong experience in agile project management in an IT environment, preferably in a Scaled Agile (SAFe) context.
Demonstrated experience in managing scrum masters or Agile teams, fostering collaboration, and driving successful project delivery.
Sound knowledge of agile methodologies (SAFe, Scrum, Kanban) and release management practices.
Proven ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage competing demands.
Proven experience taking ownership of tasks and promoting agile values and principles.
Display a strong understanding of Agile metrics and the ability to analyse and interpret them to drive team performance.
Hands-on experience coaching and managing multiple teams in Scaled Agile Framework / Scrum / Kanban.
Extensive agile delivery experience in complex environments.
Hands-on experience working on complex technology and infrastructure programmes.
Extensive experience of release management practices within an agile context, including release planning, deployment, and delivery, aligning with overall project goals.
Ability to continuously improve awareness of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in software development and agile methodologies.

A competitive and comprehensive remuneration package will be offered. This role attracts 17% superannuation in addition to the base salary. This position is full-time and appointment will be made on a continuing basis.
