About the Role: NASTAN Pty Ltd is seeking a skilled and motivated Software Engineer (Database Designer) to join their growing team.
This is a permanent full-time position offering a competitive annual salary of $ 90,000 to $95,000 plus superannuation.
The role is based at their office in Plympton, SA ****, and will play a key part in the design, development, and management of database systems that support their engineering and risk assessment operations.
Key Responsibilities
Research, analyse, and evaluate system program needs to support business and project requirements.
Design, develop, modify, and maintain software applications, database structures, and systems to ensure optimal functionality and performance.
Identify technology limitations and deficiencies in existing systems, processes, and methods, recommending effective solutions or upgrades.
Write, test, and maintain high-quality program code in accordance with technical specifications, system designs, and accredited quality standards.
Conduct comprehensive testing, debugging, and performance tuning to ensure applications and databases perform to required specifications.
Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, user manuals, and operational procedures.
Provide technical support and troubleshooting for software and database-related issues to ensure minimal system downtime.
Collaborate with engineering, project management, and IT teams to integrate software and database solutions across business operations.
Advise on software design strategies, development methodologies, and technology selection to improve system efficiency and reliability.
Contribute to software evaluation and procurement by providing technical and financial insights into system design and upgrade proposals.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree or higher qualification in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field (or equivalent experience).
Proven experience of 2 years in software design, development, and implementation, with a strong focus on database architecture and management.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, C#, SQL, or similar, with sound knowledge of database programming and optimisation techniques.
Demonstrated ability to analyse user requirements, design system solutions, and translate business needs into functional software applications.
Strong understanding of systems architecture, data modelling, and software testing methodologies.
Experience with relational and non-relational database systems (e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, MongoDB).
Familiarity with software development frameworks, version control tools, and cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills with attention to detail and quality assurance.
Ability to prepare and maintain technical documentation, user guides, and operational manuals.
Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the capacity to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
