Your key responsibilities
You will be required to fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with the Queensland Public Service values.
Adhere to defined service quality standards, health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
Manage, co-ordinate and participate in delivery of a broad range of business support functions including but not limited to: Purchasing, accounts (payable and receivable), central store and inventory analysis/management, financial assets, vehicle fleet, and staff expense/allowance claim processing.
Develop a positive team culture that encourages and recognises high performance, builds leadership capabilities and supports staff to maximise their potential and learning.
Carry out staff performance and development reviews within required timeframes.
Build and maintain productive working relationships through effective communication, consultation and negotiation with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
Actively identify improvement opportunities and take a lead role in the development and implementation of improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery and maximise efficiency, both within the head office team and state-wide.
Manage expenditure against budget for assigned cost-centres, exercise financial and procurement delegations in accordance with policy, and provide advice to other BTS officers in relation to procurement.
Provide advice, guidance and training to BTS staff and managers regarding operation and optimisation of business support services related procedures, processes and information system usage.
Actively promote a working setting that supports quality human resource management practices including employment equity, anti-discrimination, occupational health and safety, and ethical behaviour.
Key competencies (role specific criteria)
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:
Ability to lead a team providing business support services in a complex and changing service delivery environment.
Experience with, or the demonstrated ability to rapidly acquire in-depth knowledge of, BTS / Queensland Health business support functions and systems, especially in relation to: Financial management, purchasing, accounts, inventory management and related information systems.
Well developed communication and relationship development skills, and the ability to negotiate with internal and external stakeholders.
Proven commitment to continual quality improvement and quality management principles.
