On 1 January 2026, Sunbury and Cobaw Community Health and Nexus Primary Health merged to form a new, unified not-for-profit community health organisation, Omnia Community Health. This decision followed an extensive exploration process that confirmed the merger will improve access to safe, high-quality and sustainable health and community services across the Hume, Macedon Ranges, Mitchell, Murrindindi and Strathbogie local government areas.
Our organisation brings together the deep community connections, shared values and specialist expertise of both entities. Services span general practice, allied health, disability support, mental health, early childhood, family services, aged care and community wellbeing. These services are delivered from sites in Broadford, Kinglake, Kyneton, Romsey, Seymour, Sunbury and Wallan, with additional outreach into surrounding communities.
About the Role
This position presents an opportunity to work within a multi-disciplinary team to provide high quality care to public dental patients. As a dental assistant you will be responsible for supporting the oral health unit in the provision of efficient and effective dental health services to clients in accordance with appropriate clinical standards and policies to ensure an integrated approach to client care. This role is suitable for applicants seeking casual work.
Key responsibilities will include:
* Prepare, maintain, and manage the dental clinic to a high infection control standard.
* Provide clinical chairside assistance to dentists, dental therapists and oral health therapists within the Sunbury clinic and offsite during outreach services and Smile Squad.
* Assist in re-processing of instruments, which may include podiatry and dental instruments.
* Administrative support as required.
* Fill in for planned and unplanned leave.
Required Qualifications:
* Certificate III in Dental Assisting or equivalent
* At least 12 months recent clinical work
* Sound knowledge of public dental sector and service availability.
* Minimum 12-months recent experience working as a dental assistant within Australia/New Zealand
* Certificate VI in Sterilisation Services or Oral Health Promotion
The successful candidate will berequired to undertake and maintain a National Criminal History Check, WorkingwithChildren Check, current driving license and hold valid Australian working rights.
