Ferny Hills State School is seeking a motivated and friendly Schools Officer to support students, staff, and the wider school community in a dynamic and welcoming environment. This position is Permanent Full time.
Progressional Position: The successful applicant will be appointed to the lower classification with eligibility for progression once specific criteria have been met. Salary rate shown reflects both classification ranges.

Responsibilities
- Deliver & collect mail, parcels and documents; record & deliver messages; print & photocopy; prepare classrooms for examinations; prepare activity/assembly halls, including moving/arranging furniture and seating; remove and relocate furniture; perform general store duties including receipting, opening, checking, storing and distributing supplies and stocks; maintain registers and perform stocktaking and recording/engraving of equipment/furniture and assets.
- Support a variety of security duties at the school that involve using and maintaining the school security systems; bank school funds; locking & unlocking buildings within core hours.
- Assist with clearing & hosing of drains and gutters; collecting waste, food and paper on school grounds; undertake immediate action cleaning duties outside the normal hours of the cleaning staff; coordinate removal/disposal of rubbish; assist with requirements for significant events such as fetes, plays and major sporting events.
- Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety requirements including maintenance of a safe work environment; safe storage and handling of chemicals, fertilisers and fuel; bring attention to safety hazards; manage equipment records; maintain tools and equipment for repair services as per manufacturer manuals.
