GV Health is recruiting an exceptional Intensive Care Specialist to take our Critical Care Unit to the next level.This will be a joint appointment between St Vincent’s Hospital,Melbourne and GV Health with successful applicant employed in the Critical Care Unitat GV Health and the Intensive Care Unit at St Vincent’s Hospital.

The St Vincent’s rotation/secondment is an opportunity to combine tertiary critical care practice including cardiac and neuro-intensive care in a well-supported collegiate environment. Involvement and development in all clinical aspects will be encouraged and supported through CPD opportunities and direct clinical engagement.

About the Unit:

The Goulburn Valley (GV) Health Critical Care Unit is a combined department comprising the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), High Dependency Unit (HDU) and Coronary Care Unit.

The Critical Care Unit is a Level II Adult Critical Care Unit as defined by the College of Intensive Care Medicine (CICM) of Australia and New Zealand and has limited capacity for paediatric patients requiring multi-organ support.

The unit is staffed and equipped to provide multi-organ support for patients with life-threatening illnesses, injuries and complications, and monitoring of potentially life-threatening conditions. The therapies that can be provided in the Critical Care Unit include but are not limited to:

* Airway Management
* Mechanical Ventilation
* Vasoactive Infusions
* Renal replacement therapy
* Therapeutic plasma exchange
* Insertion of central venous access devices (including dialysis catheters)

The unit has 10 physical bed spaces that are all fully enclosed. The number of open and staffed beds in the unit depends on the mix of ICU, HDU, and ward-suitable patients, calculated as ICU equivalents. The GV Health Critical Care Unit is funded to provide five (5) ICU equivalent beds.
