The Opportunity
We are looking for a Forklift Operator/Logistics/Yard for our Devonport Branch.
To be successful, you will be a confident self-starter and have a passion for agricultural and small construction machinery, an open mind for the rural lifestyle and demonstrate the following attributes.
As a Forklift Operator/Yard, your responsibilities will include:
* Ensure pre-start check is undertaken before use of forklift and other equipment certifying the equipment is in good working order.
* Operate forklift and other machinery safely and in accordance with policies and procedures.
* Ensure all inbound and/or outbound freight is: Identified stock and serial numbers, matched, sorted and placed safely into correct locations.
* Ensuring stock is dispatched to the correct locations
* Accounted for with accompanying paperwork in good order.
* Unloaded and/or loaded safely with zero damage.
* Review consignment notes and provide feedback to Supervisors on quality/issues.
* Match freight and connotes: no miss-sorted or miss-loaded freight.
* Report all incidents of damage, shortages etc. to the supervisor in a timely manner.
* Ensure the yard is kept organised and tidy.
* Work toward a target of zero near-miss incidents or accidents.
* Build and maintain professional working relationships with all levels of the organisation.
* Any other reasonable tasks as requested by your manager.
Person Specification
As a successful Forklift Operator/Logistics/Yard, you will have:
* Genuine commitment to Health, Safety & Environmental practices.
* Integrity, trustworthiness, professionalism and a customer-centric approach to problem-solving.
* Current and valid Class LF Forklift Licence (High Risk Work Licence).
* Experience operating a Forklift in a similar environment and/or industry.
* Solid experience loading and unloading freight that is oversized, long lengths, general, non-palletised.
* Suitable physical ability to handle repetitive lifting (manual handling) of freight up to 20kgs.
* Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
* Good time management skills coupled with resilience and adaptability.
* Proven ability to visualise and plan the load.
* Ability to work autonomously and unsupervised, coupled with a proactive attitude.
* Good language, literacy and numeracy skills.
* General computer skills, including email, and basic DMS.
