Discipline Team Lead - Civil Engineering Design
We are seeking an experienced and technically strong Discipline Team Lead to join a growing engineering team in Geelong. This role is ideal for a senior civil design professional who combines deep technical expertise with strong leadership capability and a passion for developing people and delivering quality outcomes.
About the Role
As Discipline Team Lead, you will work closely with the Discipline Director to support project delivery, lead and mentor team members, and help drive operational performance and business growth. You will provide both technical leadership and people leadership while contributing to strategic planning and client relationship management.
Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team Development
* Provide visible and supportive leadership across the discipline team
* Conduct regular one-on-one check-ins focused on development, well-being, and continuous improvement
* Mentor and coach engineers and designers to build technical capability and career growth
* Foster a respectful, inclusive, and high-performing team culture
Technical & Project Delivery
* Lead and review civil engineering designs across commercial and infrastructure projects
* Provide technical oversight and support in:
o Civil commercial developments
o Water and stormwater infrastructure
o Pump station design
* Coordinate and support project delivery outcomes across the team
* Ensure quality, efficiency and technical excellence in design documentation
Operational Management
* Monitor team utilisation, forecasting, invoicing and project performance
* Review and approve timesheets and assist with resource planning
* Support recruitment activities and workforce planning
* Assist in maintaining strong project delivery and commercial outcomes
Clients & Business Development
* Maintain strong client relationships and provide trusted technical advice
* Support business development initiatives and identify opportunities for growth
* Contribute to securing future project pipelines
About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
* Significant experience in civil engineering design within a consulting environment
* Strong technical expertise in:
o Civil commercial projects
o Water and stormwater infrastructure
o Pump station design
* Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D and 12d
* Proven experience leading or mentoring technical teams
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
* Ability to balance technical delivery, people leadership and commercial awareness
* Relevant tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering
