Legislative Advisor
The ACCC is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legislative Advisor to join its Mergers and Exemptions Law Unit. As a key member of the team, you will provide strategic and legal policy advice on complex issues relating to the functions and powers of the ACCC under the CCA.
You will conduct legal and related research into complex matters relevant to ACCC responsibilities under relevant legislation, assist with the conduct of investigations and court proceedings for the ACCC, and assist the ACCC in the performance of its dispute resolution functions.
About this role:
* Provide legal advice on complex issues relating to the functions and powers of the ACCC under the CCA.
* Conduct legal and related research into complex matters relevant to ACCC responsibilities under relevant legislation.
* Assist with the conduct of investigations and court proceedings for the ACCC.
* Assist the ACCC in the performance of its dispute resolution functions.
What we're looking for:
* Admission as a practitioner, however described, of the High Court or the Supreme Court of an Australian State or Territory.
* Experience in working effectively as a lawyer advising and guiding line areas under very tight timeframes.
* Experience advising in relation to Part IV of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 —particularly in respect of merger clearances and competition exemptions—or administrative law, would be an advantage but is not essential.
