About the role This training role provides exposure across the domains of the Public Health Medicine Advanced Training Curriculum. Based from the Lithgow Campus of the National School of Medicine in regional New South Wales, the trainee contributes to public health activities including education, research, epidemiolog ical health assessment, and other activities related to the generation of evidence and the promoti on of population health. There is a focus on quality and safet y supporting the delivery of environmentally sustainable public health and healthcare. Reporting to the Professor of Population and Planetary Health, the trainee will gain experience in academic public health and in applied intersectoral working linked to the health of regional populations. There will be protected time for education al activities and the potential to participate in research meetings and conference s. Key Responsibilities Deliver postgraduate public health teaching, including preparation and facilitation of tutorials, lectures, and seminars for the School of Medicine. Contribute to assessment and evaluation activities to support high ‑ quality learning outcomes. Engage in training and curriculum activities that strengthen the public health teaching community of practice. Undertake supervised public health research aligned with Advanced Training requirements. Contribute to quality and safety activit i es supporting environmentally sustainable quality improvement in public health and healthcare, including integrating these principles into teaching and practice. Design, conduct, analyse and report public health investigations and formulate public health policy under supervision. Maintain professional development and training, and the training records required to comply with the Australasian Faculty of Public Health Medicine (AFPHM) Training Program. Qualifications, skills & experience Full general medical registration with the Medical Board of Australia and a minimum of three years full time equivalent postgraduate clinical experience. Completed Master of Public Health (or equivalent) meeting AFPHM core requirements, with enrolment in the Australasian Faculty of Public Health Medicine Training Program. Demonstrated understanding of the Australian health care system and the delivery of public health services across metropolitan, regional, and rural settings. Demonstrated commitment to public health, public health education, curriculum development, and researc h. P roficien t in critical appraisal, academic writing, and research tools. Demonstrated interest in environmentally sustainable public health and health care delivery in Australia. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. T he ability to facilitate small ‑ group teaching, deliver tutorials, and provide constructive feedback. Well developed organisational and time ‑ management skills with the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively. Evidence of vaccination t hat compl ies with the NSW Health Oc c u p ational Assessment, Screening and V accination against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy. Available to relocate to or spend time in the Lithgow/Blue Mountains region to complete rural training.
