Role

Campbelltown Hospital is seeking a Clinical Nurse Educator (Permanent Part‐Time) to join the Orthopaedics and Surgical Short Stay Unit. In this key role, you will provide clinical leadership, preceptorship, and mentorship, supporting nursing staff to deliver safe, compassionate, and high‐quality pre‐ and post‐operative care in a fast‐paced short‐stay environment.

You will foster a positive and collaborative learning culture, using adult learning principles to build capability, confidence, and clinical excellence across the team. Working closely with ward leadership, multidisciplinary colleagues, and other educators, you will plan, implement, and evaluate education aligned to clinical priorities and service needs, while modelling professional practice, integrity, and NSW Health values.

Responsibilities

* Provide clinical education, mentorship, and preceptorship to support safe and effective orthopaedic and surgical care
* Promote continuous learning, reflective practice, and professional development within the unit
* Utilise adult learning principles to enhance staff capability, clinical competence, and confidence
* Collaborate with managers, educators, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver education aligned to operational and strategic priorities
* Model professional standards, legislative requirements, the NSW Health Code of Conduct, and Transforming Your Experience and Leadership Strategies

Qualifications & Fit

* Demonstrated orthopaedic and/or surgical nursing experience, ideally within an acute or short‐stay setting
* Experience or a strong interest in clinical education, preceptorship, coaching, and staff development
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage, mentor, and influence others
* A quality‐focused approach with strong attention to detail, reflective practice, and continuous improvement
* Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team while upholding governance requirements, professional standards, and NSW Health values

Selection Criteria

* Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA and a postgraduate qualification in a relevant clinical field or education, or a combination of education, training, and clinical experience deemed appropriate by SWSLHD
* Demonstrated understanding of competency‐based assessment with experience in education/clinical teaching and developing clinical programs based on adult learning principles
* Demonstrated ability to provide safe compassionate quality care that is culturally responsive
* Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with patients/consumers, carers and the multidisciplinary health care team
* Demonstrated capacity to interact with others in a personable and professional manner and resolve conflicts when they arise
* Demonstrated evidence of the use of critical thinking as it relates to the delivery of evidence‐based nursing care
* Demonstrated understanding and participation in risk management, work health and safety and quality improvement in the workplace
