Welder / Fabricator – Full Time – 38 Hours (Melbourne VIC)
MGL Herald Pty Ltd specialises in reinforcement across all construction sectors including civil, residential, commercial and infrastructure projects. Based in VIC, we are expanding and seeking a skilled and fully qualified Welder / Fabricator to join our experienced team.
Responsibilities
* Reading project plans, blueprints and drawings and taking measurements.
* Performing MIG, TIG and other welding types based on requirements.
* Cutting marked‐out metal sections and shapes using hand tools.
* Shaping and bending metal sections and pipes using a variety of equipment and welding machines.
* Joining components using manual or semi‐automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead).
* Testing and inspecting welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws.
* Conserving resources whenever possible to comply with project budget requirements.
* Coordinating with field labour crew for efficient installations.
* Cleaning and smoothing welds using techniques such as filing, chiseling and grinding.
* Completing products through processes like cleaning, polishing, filing and treating with acidic solutions.
Qualifications
* A minimum of 2 years' experience handling fabricated/welded structures.
* Experience with MIG welding.
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
* Good focus on quality assurance.
* Knowledge of using safe working methods.
* Valid driving licence and transport desirable.
* AQF Certificate III or IV in the relevant field.
* Construction White Card (NSW issued preferred).
* A strong work ethic, commitment to safety and a can‐do attitude.
