**Permanent part time opportunities available**

**_The successful applicant will be responsible for the provision of contemporary, comprehensive and professional specialist Rehabilitation Medicine services for our Lower Hunter community, that are safe, effective, evidence based and patient centred._**

Rehabilitation Medicine involves prevention and reduction of functional loss, activity limitation and participation restriction arising from impairments; management of disability in physical, psychosocial, vocational and lifestyle dimensions; and improvement of function.

Rehabilitation Medicine emphasises maximal restoration of the functions of the person, the maintenance of health and the prevention of secondary complications of disability.

.We have a 24-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit providing inpatient rehabilitation for the Lower Hunter sector, mainly specialising in Neurorehabilitation, Geriatric Rehabilitation and Orthopaedic rehabilitation and our Kurri Kurri Rehabilitation Unit is an accredited training site for Rehabilitation Medicine training.
.We have experienced and supported staff who work with the Department of Medicine at Maitland Hospital our team currently includes one Senior Staff Specialist in Rehabilitation, one Advanced Trainee in Rehabilitation Medicine, two Junior Medical Officers and a visiting Geriatrician
.Our main feeder hospitals are Maitland Hospital, Calvary Hospital and John Hunter Hospital, a tertiary facility only 30 minutes' drive away.
- Hold a primary medical degree registrable with AHPRA and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in Rehabilitation Medicine
- Have demonstrated recent and comprehensive experience in Rehabilitation Medicine
- Be a skilled communicator, including both oral and written skills, communicating with patients, students, other health professionals and the public
- Participate and collaborate research and in the translation of research evidence into everyday clinical practice
- Have demonstrated commitment to the supervision and teaching of trainees, medical students, and the multidisciplinary clinical workforce as well as an enthusiasm to ongoing personal education and growth

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW. Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate.

A third COVID-19 dose is a requirement for Category A positions, as is one dose of the current Southern hemisphere influenza vaccine registered for use by the Therapeutic Goods Administration. COVID-19 booster doses are highly recommended for all other health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
