We are seeking an experienced, motivated and organised individual, to join our estimating and proposals team to support the sales team for the HMA Wear Solutions products across the mining and industrial industries in Australia, New Zealand, PNG, Indonesia, South Africa and South America. We are a market leader in this field and have been supplying and manufacturing specialised ceramic & wear resistant linings and systems in Australia for over 45 years
THE ROLE
Based in our Berkeley Vale (NSW) Head Office and reporting to the Estimating Manager, this role is responsible for producing high-quality technical proposals and accurate estimates that support our sales and project teams across a broad range of engineered equipment and services.
You will bring experience in engineering estimating and proposal development, with the ability to interpret client requirements, develop compliant tender submissions, and translate technical information into clear, compelling documentation. This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys ownership, variety and working closely with stakeholders across engineering, manufacturing, procurement and sales.
Key responsibilities will include (but are not limited to);
* Reviewing tender and enquiry documentation to confirm scope, deliverables, commercial requirements and submission deadlines
* Interpreting engineering drawings, specifications and data sheets; completing quantity take-offs where required
* Preparing estimates and quotations using internal estimating tools and first-principles methods where appropriate
* Developing customer-facing technical proposals, tender responses and supporting documentation to a high standard
* Engaging internal stakeholders (engineering, manufacturing and service teams) to validate solutions, pricing, lead times and risks
* Obtaining and evaluating supplier and subcontractor quotations; assisting with selection and clarifications in line with approved vendor processes
* Managing tender documentation, revisions and correspondence with clients, consultants and internal teams to ensure compliant submissions
* Supporting bid reviews and handover of awarded work to project delivery teams; maintaining estimating records and continuous improvement inputs
Successful candidates will possess the following skills and attributes;
* Minimum 3 years relevant experience in estimating and/or technical proposal preparation within an engineering environment
* Exposure to mechanical equipment, steel fabrication, piping and/or maintenance/service scopes (highly regarded)
* Strong attention to detail with the ability to interpret drawings and specifications for take-off and pricing purposes
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce clear, well-structured proposals
* Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team
* Ability to coordinate multiple tenders and priorities simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment
* Strong time management skills
* Ample initiative and strong problem solving skills
* High numerical and abstract reasoning skills
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* High level of proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
* Engineering qualification (Mechanical preferred) or equivalent relevant technical/trade experience with strong estimating capability
