**The Role**

The role of the Finance Analyst - Projects will be to contribute to the team via three accountabilities with a predominate focus on the Banks Project investment slate. The position will contribute to the success of the Banks Projects function by identifying new opportunities to improve or reduce costs, assessing project financial outcomes and benchmarking operational performance.
- Provide financial and management accounting services to Suncorp Bank, including reporting and analysis, expense forecasting, and capital management support, with a focus on being the difference that leads to enhanced decision-making capability
- Champion continuous improvement within the Bank Performance Management team through constantly challenging the status quo
- Support the Finance Business Partner by providing timely reporting and data to help drive meaningful insights to project managers and key senior stakeholders
**What you'll do**
- Prepare month end reports focussing on Bank expense performance, including variance analysis to budgets and forecasts and identification of recent business trends
- Support the update of the Bank Projects forecast on a monthly basis, including a summary of the changes in underlying business drivers that are producing a change in the overall forecast results
- Support in the accurate allocation of project resources and external costs to individual projects and assist project managers in expense related queries, including recognising accruals and adjustments
- Working with key stakeholders to understand the ongoing impact of forecast changes and to improve outcomes
- Support the Finance Business Partner in queries from project managers with a proactive and solutions based approach
- Help drive improvements and transparency in ways of working, utilising PPM (Project Managements Tool) and helping Project Manager's have full visibility of costs incurred
- Produce various project financial reports and adhoc analysis that provide understanding of financial performance, for example, external supplier analysis & FTE analysis
- Manage requests related to Bank Project general ledger maintenance
- Contribute to other broader initiatives and duties as required
**What you'll bring**
- Bachelor of Business/Commerce/Accounting or Finance (desired)
- Post Graduate qualification in Accounting such as CPA, ICAA (desired)
- Greater than 5 years professional experience
- 3 years experience in a financial institution/bank (desired)
- Strong analytical capability (incl. data analysis) with background in business analysis, management reporting and / or decision support
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong time management skill, with a track record of executing tasks in a timely manner
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
- Strong understanding management accounting fundamentals
- Ability to develop sustainable relationships with other business units
- Strong verbal and business writing skills with experience in reporting to senior leadership/external audience
