**The Opportunity**
The Berry Street School is a specialist secondary school that caters for young people who have become disengaged from mainstream school, who may have experienced trauma and who lack the support required to be successful in education.
The Ballarat campus has an opportunity for a passionate education support worker to build relationships and develop skills with young people through our trauma informed approach.
Working 1 on 1 and in small groups to develop social, emotional and academic skills.
**Key Responsibilities**
Primary responsibilities of the** **Education Support Worker will include:
- Working with Classroom Teachers and Wellbeing staff members.
- Assisting the Classroom Teacher by supporting the implementation of the Berry Street Education Model.
- Supporting student learning.
- Providing specifically targeted support of students in our Transition Program.
- Supporting all aspects of the school program
- Support and tracking the development of a students social & emotional goals.
**About You**
To be successful in the role you will hold a qualification in Education Support, Youth Work or Social Work and a deep understanding of the Education system. You will be passionate about encouraging and supporting disengaged students and those with learning difficulties to reignite their love of learning and have an understanding of the trauma informed Positive Education Model.
You will have a demonstrated ability and experience in the effective engagement of young people with complex needs and strong literacy and numeracy skills, with the ability to work in a team environment.
