About the Opportunity
The Orange Health Care Child Protection Residential Program provides safe, stable, and nurturing placements for young people who require intensive support. Case Managers work closely with Residential Youth Workers to ensure high‑quality day‑to‑day care and therapeutic support.
We are seeking someone flexible, resilient, and committed to ongoing professional growth. The role involves working with young people who present complex needs and challenging behaviours, so the ability to remain calm, build rapport quickly, and maintain strong professional boundaries is essential. You will also be comfortable using computer systems and completing administrative tasks under the guidance of the Children Services Manager. Candidates with experience supporting vulnerable individuals who display challenging behaviours are strongly encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
* Build and maintain positive, trusting, and professional relationships with children and young people.
* Support young people during crises and assist in managing challenging behaviours.
* Develop and update Care Plans, Safety Plans, Cultural Plans, and Individual Crisis Management Plans.
* Attend regular meetings with the Children Services Manager.
* Delegate tasks to residential youth workers and uphold a consistently high standard of care.
* Provide leadership, supervision, and professional development to staff.
* Assist with onboarding, induction, and ongoing training of new team members.
* Participate in stakeholder meetings and collaborate with external services.
* Contribute to a rotating on‑call roster.
* Attend appointments with young people and facilitate relevant meetings.
* Maintain a positive, safe, and supportive home environment.
* Ensure each young person’s essential needs are met, including diet, hygiene, education, and life skills development.
* Ensure assigned houses meet child safety compliance requirements.
* Act as a positive role model, promoting purposeful activities and skill‑building opportunities.
Essential Requirements
* Minimum 1 year of case management experience in a residential care environment.
* Flexibility to adapt to roster changes and short‑notice on‑call requirements.
* Ability to attend team meetings, training, and supervision.
* Successful completion of all required background and history checks.
* Current First Aid Certificate.
* Valid unrestricted Australian driver’s licence.
* Paid Blue Card (WWCC).
* NDIS Worker Screening Check (Yellow Card) or willingness to obtain.
* National Police Check completed within the last 3 months.
* Experience developing care/safety/behaviour plans, case notes, and reports (desirable).
* Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention (or equivalent).
* Experience managing staff and residential care houses, including roster management.
* Full Australian working rights.
