We are seeking an experienced candidate to support the Farm Manager in a range of tasks in the maintenance area. The farm consists of 55,000 mango trees, spread across 150 hectares. The property is situated approximately 15 minutes from Humpty Doo and 45 minutes from Darwin. We employ over 160 staff during a very busy harvest period, picking and packing up to 400 bins per day in our own facilities.
We are seeking a person with trade qualifications as either a mechanic, fitter and turner or aligned area.
Main responsibilities include;
Manage and maintain a fleet of approximately 13 tractors, 18 harvest aids, 4 sprayers along with associated implements.
Work independently and alongside contractors to ensure the pack line, cool rooms are in operational order.
Machinery/vehicle maintenance to best practice (manufacturers guidelines or better), to ensure all machines and vehicles are safe to operate and ready to use.
Ensure first aid kits on machines are stocked and replenished and supplies aren't expired.
2-way radios are operational and available for use.
Engage with machinery/vehicle contractors when required, to organise servicing, repairs and parts.
Train and test machinery operators to ensure machines are used safely and to optimum performance.
Review machinery and vehicle SOP's to ensure they are correct and detailed.
Ensure the workshop is kept neat and tidy and all tools are accounted for and functional.
Ensure the workshop is adequately stocked with spare parts to minimise downtime of machinery.
Archive machinery/vehicle maintenance and repairs in correct databases - this will include the implementation of a new software system.
Yearly review of the machinery and vehicle fleet and if required sell old machinery that isn't being used.
Fire extinguishers on the entire farm are test and tagged.
