Yumbah Clean Seas, now proudly part of the Yumbah Group, is a global leader in the full cycle breeding, production and sale of Yellowtail Kingfish (YTK, Seriola lalandi). We are known for our innovative Yellowtail Kingfish farming, with operations in Port Lincoln and Arno Bay, a Hatchery in Arno Bay and Processing Facility and support functions in Adelaide.

About the Role

Based in the beautiful township of Port Lincoln, the role of Fish Health Technician reports to the Fish Health Manager, Yumbah Clean Seas. The position is responsible for monitoring the health of Yellowtail Kingfish (Seriola lalandi) stock at our Port Lincoln farming operations, with occasional travel to other sites on the Eyre Peninsula required.

Day-to-day duties include planning and executing fish bathing schedules, fish health checks, monitoring and improving biosecurity controls. In addition, planning and co-ordinating with feed, operations and logistics teams. This is a hands-on role, with applicants needing to be physically fit and competent and capable working at sea most days.

The position is open to applicants with experience in a similar position or have a keen interest in aquaculture and fish health. Relevant aquaculture or science qualifications will be considered an advantage. Excellent communication skills are necessary to work within a collaborative team and maintain effective relationships across the business.

Key Responsibilities

* Collect, interpret and report scientific data including health and environmental parameters.
* Gather and present all relevant health information using Microsoft Office Suits and other relevant programs.
* Planning and implementation of health assessments and bathing operations.
* Work closely and collaboratively with workshop, vessel operations and feed teams.
* Monitor and improve biosecurity controls and procedures.
* Assist with implementation and development of health-related research and development projects.
* Assist environmental monitoring.
* Commitment to working safely on land and at sea.
* Ensure compliance with the company's WHS policies and procedures.
* Maintain technical equipment.
* Collation, analysis and interpretation of scientific data.
* Accurate documentation and reporting.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Assist with Research and Development projects.
* Promote safe work practices and procedures both at sea and on land.

Required Skills

* Relevant industry experience will be considered an advantage.
* Appropriate Tertiary degree or Aquaculture qualification desirable.
* Experience with statistical tools and analysing data.
* Experience coordinating and maintaining multiple projects.
* Competent and capable of working at sea.
* Able to work in a team-based environment.
* Strong communication and relationship building skills.
* Ability to think strategically and improvise where necessary.
* High level written and verbal skills.
* Relationship and stakeholder management skills.
* Strong organisational skills including a demonstrated ability to determine priorities, make independent decisions and meet tight deadlines.
* Current driver's license.
* Coxswain boat operators license (desirable).
* First aid certifications (desirable).
