The Department:
This opportunity sits within a newly established, small agency. As a growing entity separating from its portfolio department, the organisation is building its own corporate systems, processes and capability frameworks from the ground up.

The role:
Reporting to the Director, you will lead a small team and oversee operational HR functions across the employee lifecycle. Your core focus areas will include HR operations throughout the MOG transition, recruitment operations and support to the graduate program.

This role operates in an agile environment, with evolving priorities aligned to organisational needs and the transition to independent corporate systems.

This is a 6 month initial opportunity with the strong chance of being extended or progressing to an ongoing round.

Key duties may include:

* Leading APS recruitment, onboarding, induction and offboarding processes
* Providing expert advice on APS employment legislation, policies and compliance requirements
* Managing sensitive HR matters with discretion
* Supporting the configuration and implementation of systems including eRecruit and Aurion payroll
* Overseeing payroll establishment processes and liaison with service providers
* Managing and coordinating the Graduate Program, including rotations, reporting and pastoral care

To be considered, you will demonstrate:
* Strong technical knowledge of APS recruitment legislation and frameworks,
* Demonstrated experience managing APS recruitment and onboarding processes, including Gazette requirements
* Experience coordinating or managing a Graduate Program or similar entry-level program
* Working knowledge of payroll processes and requirements
* Experience with systems such as Acendre eRecruit, Aurion and ServiceNow
* Experience establishing new systems or processes in a changing environment (highly desirable)
* Resilience and adaptability within a transitioning or MoG environment (highly desirable)
