The Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join our remote operations at Tanami, NT. This role is ideal for a client-focused operational leader with strong commercial acumen, people leadership capability and a safety-first mindset. You will work closely with Unit Managers and the Account Manager to deliver contractual outcomes, drive performance and foster a strong operational culture across site. Key Responsibilities Maintain a strong client and customer focus, anticipating needs and delivering added value Build and sustain effective client relationships, ensuring contractual obligations are met Support the Account Manager to identify and develop new business opportunities Coach leaders to embed cross-selling and additional service offerings Communicate outcomes and actions from Service Navigator reporting Consumer Sales & Service Excellence Establish and monitor high-quality operational standards across the site Drive strategies to improve service delivery, customer satisfaction, volumes and margins Champion site presentation, brand and merchandising standards Develop and implement retail sales and marketing strategies Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation Commercial & Financial Performance Manage cost of food and goods in line with budgeted targets Drive operational efficiencies to deliver sustainable financial outcomes Prepare and manage budgets in collaboration with Unit Managers and Commercial teams Monitor financial performance using Compass Group systems and implement corrective actions Ensure accurate and timely client billing and management of debtor days Leadership & Compliance Provide leadership, coaching and operational support to Unit Managers and site leaders Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory and Compass Group standards Identify and mitigate operational risks, minimising incidents Establish strong internal and external stakeholder relationships Monitor, report and adjust performance against agreed targets People Leadership Lead recruitment, onboarding and retention strategies Build a positive, inclusive and high-performing workplace culture Support leader development and succession planning Ensure performance management, recognition and training pathways are embedded Health, Safety & Environment Demonstrate visible commitment to safety leadership Embed Compass Group’s Safety Culture framework Ensure compliance with WHS, food safety (HACCP) and environmental standards Coach leaders to identify, eliminate or reduce risk The person Minimum 4 years’ experience in an operational leadership role Strong understanding of WHS, food safety and environmental compliance Proven commercial acumen, including budget management Ability to build strong relationships with clients and diverse stakeholders Sound knowledge of workplace relations and awards Strong IT and systems capability Desirable: Business or Degree qualification Contract management experience Food Safety Supervisor Certificate FIFO or remote operations experience The Benefits Competitive FIFO salary super FIFO roster with flights, accommodation, meals and uniforms provided Access to site facilities (gym, recreation and social activities) Comprehensive onboarding and training through Compass Group Ongoing leadership development and career progression Paid parental leave and salary sacrifice options Access to wellbeing, retail and lifestyle programs Diversity & Inclusion Our people are at the heart of what we do.
