About the Role
The Bushland Maintenance Officer sits within Council's Conservation team and is responsible for delivering on-ground bushland maintenance and revegetation works across Council's natural reserves and open space areas.
Working under the direction of the Crew Leader, this role focuses on practical field-based delivery of works programs, including weed control, revegetation, habitat management, seed collection and general bushland maintenance.
You will operate plant and equipment, undertake manual tasks, and contribute to the delivery of programmed works across a range of sites. The role requires working outdoors in varying conditions and adapting to changing priorities, site conditions and seasonal demands.
You will also interact with members of the public, community groups and volunteers when working in open spaces, providing basic information and representing Council in a professional manner.
This is a hands‐on role suited to someone who enjoys working outdoors, is passionate about natural areas, can follow direction, and takes pride in delivering consistent, high‐quality work as part of a team.
About You
* Reliable and capable operator with experience in bushland or natural‐area maintenance.
* Practical skills in weed control, revegetation and use of plant and equipment, and comfort working in a small team to deliver programmed works.
* Dependable, punctual, safety‐conscious, and willing to learn and develop.
* Clear, respectful communication with colleagues and the public, representing Council appropriately.
Key Selection Criteria
* Certificate III or IV in Conservation Land Management or related field, or equivalent experience.
* Ability to operate a variety of plant and equipment safely and efficiently, including routine daily maintenance.
* Work diligently and enthusiastically with minimal supervision to meet service outcomes.
* Cooperate in a team environment with high reliability and punctuality.
* Interact with the public in a clear, courteous manner, presenting a positive image for Council.
* Good written and oral communication skills.
* Good computer skills.
* Current First Aid Certificate.
