This is a pivotal hands‑on position in a newly formed organisation
As an individual contributor, you'll take direct responsibility for both industry engagement and marketing communications activities within your designated territory in the Goulburn Region.
Location: Work‑from‑home within or very close to the Goulburn Region, with regular travel throughout the local government areas of Greater Shepparton, Strathbogie, and Mitchell
Employment type: 0.8 FTE, maximum term (until June 2027)
Reports to: Goulburn Region Tourism CEO

We are the peak tourism body for the Goulburn Region, working collaboratively to drive visitation and support our tourism industry. Guided by the 2023 Destination Management Plan, we focus on growing tourism and enhancing the visitor experience.
With over 2 million visitors annually, our region is a vibrant destination, easily accessible from Melbourne, offering natural beauty, diverse attractions and exceptional food, beverage, and cultural experiences across the local government areas of Greater Shepparton, Strathbogie, and Mitchell.
As GRT continues to grow, we're expanding our team to meet the increasing needs of our region and industry.
We're currently finalising our brand and developing our digital platform, with both set to launch in autumn 2026—an exciting time to join us and help shape our future
About you
You're a self‑starter with a creative spark, strategic mindset, and genuine passion for empowering regional businesses and tourism growth.
You have a minimum of 3 years of industry engagement / marketing communications experience.
You're comfortable leading marketing efforts that inspire visitors and enhance our regional reputation, while simultaneously building and supporting relationships with local tourism businesses to help them connect, grow, and thrive.
You're strategic and practical - energised by the opportunity to create content, design and execute campaigns, organise industry development workshops, and build relationships that drive results.
You enjoy collaborating with your colleagues and flying solo as the situation requires.
Key Responsibilities
Industry Engagement
Relationship building: Build and maintain strong relationships with tourism operators, events, and local associations
Industry support: Identify training needs and source appropriate trainers and facilitators to deliver industry‑friendly skills development sessions, workshops, and networking events for local businesses
Stakeholder collaboration: Work closely with councils, community partners, and tourism operators to amplify key messages
Marketing Communications
Content creation: Develop our digital platform with compelling content including eye‑catching visuals, engaging reels, and copy that captures the heart of our region
Campaign development: Plan and execute marketing strategies aligned with our brand, Board priorities, and the Destination Management Plan
Data‑driven insights: Use market trends, visitor data, and feedback to refine strategies and drive results
Qualifications & Experience
Experience: 3‑5 years in marketing communications, industry engagement, tourism, or related fields. Experience in tourism or regional development highly regarded
Creative storyteller: Exceptional writing and content creation skills with an eye for visual storytelling
Collaborative: Able to engage and inspire partners, stakeholders, and the wider community. Strong team player who works effectively with others to coordinate regional initiatives
Tech‑savvy: Skilled in WordPress, social media tools, email marketing software, and analytics platforms
Solution‑oriented: Self‑motivated and enthusiastic about empowering regional Victoria
Location: Must reside in or very close to the Goulburn Region, Victoria (within the local government areas of Greater Shepparton, Strathbogie, or Mitchell, or nearby) to enable regular travel and hands‑on engagement throughout your designated territory
